Catlin Arctic Survey 2010 begins as explorers and scientists take to the ice
Catlin Arctic Survey 2010 is now under way.
The Survey, sponsored by Catlin Group Limited, will focus on the impact that increasing carbon emissions could have on the earth's oceans.
Ice Base to support Arctic seawater sampling
Getting the facts about changes to the Arctic environment is not easy. Scientists are trained to collect and analyse data, but they are not prepared to cope with the life-threatening conditions common in the Far North.
Explorer Team embarks on icy journey
Whilst the scientists conduct research from the relative comfort of the Ice Base, three veteran polar explorers have set out on a 500-kilometre journey to collect data about the changing Arctic environment.
Why is Catlin Arctic Survey 2010 necessary?
Catlin Arctic Survey 2010 will undertake research into how greenhouse gases could affect the marine life of the Arctic Ocean, including some species that can be described as the core of life on our planet
Catlin reaffirms commitment to Arctic research
The Catlin Arctic Survey was created because of the serious implications that changes to the earth’s environment may pose for the insurance industry, its policyholders and all of society.
