Casualty Reinsurance
Catlin Bermuda’s casualty reinsurance team write almost all lines of US casualty business including medical malpractice, lawyers malpractice, nursing home liability, municipal liability, auto liability and general liability on a per risk and clash basis (including workers compensation).
The team is a lead and quoting market for professional and municipal liability and is a known lead market in providing protection to mutual insurers, captives and other risk financing mechanisms formed principally in the United States by homogeneous groups such as physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, lawyers, municipalities and most other affinity groups.

Underwriter
Carol Paiva began her insurance career with Beneficial American in 1977. In 1994 she was appointed vice president-underwriting of Sphere Drake Underwriting Management (Bermuda) Ltd. (later Odyssey Re), writing casualty treaty business specifically for risk retention groups, association captives and other alternative risk transfer entities, as well as workers compensation business. Carol moved to Chubb Atlantic Indemnity Ltd. in 2000 where she continued writing alternative risk transfer business in addition to proportional program business. She joined Catlin Bermuda in 2003 as casualty underwriter.

Casualty Underwriter
Nick Pascall joined CNA Re London in 1992 as a trainee underwriter in the North American Professional Liability treaty and direct account unit. He worked on a number of classes of business including lawyers E&O, D&O, miscellaneous E&O, fidelity and surety. Nick was appointed underwriter in 1998 and moved to Chicago later that year to work with CNA Re’s Professional Liability unit. In October 1999 Nick joined CUAL as class underwriter for the Professional Indemnity Reinsurance account. He relocated to Bermuda in 2002 to underwrite casualty classes for Catlin Bermuda.
