The team of experienced underwriters writes a worldwide book of insurance and facultative reinsurance. They have built up a thorough knowledge of the territories and clients through extensive travel and regular meetings. Catlin also writes a mature book of first party property and third party liability business for all risks associated with the nuclear fuel cycle. The majority of this business is accessed through participation in the worldwide nuclear pooling system and via reinsurance support of industry mutual organisations. Catlin has an active role in the management of Nuclear Risk Insurers, otherwise known as the British nuclear pool.

Business Group Leader-Property

Geoffrey began his career in 1979 as a marine insurance broker. In 1983 he joined Sedgwick Group and spent over seven years in the energy division, initially as an account executive and ultimately as a London Market placing broker. He was then appointed energy underwriter at Royal Insurance, latterly known as Royal and SunAlliance.

At the beginning of 1998 Geoffrey joined the energy and industrial underwriting team at Catlin in London. In addition to his role as class underwriter, Geoffrey assumed short term responsibility for the development of Asian business and was seconded to the Catlin Asia Pte Ltd offices in Singapore to assist in setting up the new venture.

Geoffrey was appointed as an Underwriting Operations Director in 2002 and was appointed Property Business Group Leader in 2006.

Senior Underwriter

Following his graduation from Lampeter University in 1993, Daniel joined Clegg Gifford & Co Ltd as a placing broker before moving to G.E Lloyd-Roberts (syndicate 55) where he worked as an underwriter on the UK liability account. In 1997 Dan joined the Cox Nuclear Syndicate (syndicate 1176) where he was nuclear underwriter, also working on the power generation portfolio. Dan joined Catlin in 2002 as a class underwriter.

Michael graduated from Oxford University with a Masters of Physics (MPhys) degree. He joined Catlin in 2007 as the Property Business Group Actuary. In 2009 he was made a class underwriter working in the Direct & Facultative team for US & Worldwide property business.

Prior to joining Catlin he was an Associate at an actuarial consultancy where he specialised in Lloyd's of London syndicate reserving, medical negligence & reinsurance pricing. He is a qualified Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

James graduated from Manchester University with a BSc in Mathematics with Business Management. He joined Catlin in 2004 as an underwriting assistant to work on the UK Property Account. In 2007 he transferred to the D & F International Property account. James has attained his ACII qualification. He was promoted to class underwriter in January 2010.

Paul graduated from Oxford Brookes with a BA in Business and Management. During his degree he completed a sandwich year at ExxonMobil (Esso) in their Supply and Distribution division. He joined Catlin in mid 2003 as an underwriting assistant for the property facultative account and was promoted to assistant underwriter at the end of 2006.

Jamie graduated from Newcastle University with an LLB in Law. He joined Catlin Underwriting Agencies Ltd in 2004 as an underwriting assistant on the Direct and Facultative property account. In 2006 he spent 3 months in the Sydney office. Following the acquisition of Wellington in December 2006 he has been focussed on the North American Direct and Facultative Property account. In 2007 he spent a week in Chicago on the Katie School and Insurance. Jamie has attained his ACII qualification. James was promoted to class underwriter in January 2010.

Isabelle graduated from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne with a BSc in Agri-Business Management and Marketing. She joined Catlin in 2003 as an underwriting assistant on the direct and facultative property account and became an assistant underwriter in 2006.

Rhys graduated from Manchester University with a BA (Hons) in Economics and Modern History. He joined Wellington Underwriting as an underwriting assistant in the Property Department in December 2002. In 2003 he progressed to assistant underwriter then to class underwriter in 2007.
