Catlin underwrites Space business from its London office, with
local representation in Paris, Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur.
Furthermore, Catlin is able to write up to US$45m any one
launch, up to US$45m any one satellite post-separation and up to
US$40m any one satellite during its in-orbit life phase. If within
our capacity capabilities, risks can be written 100%.
In support, Catlin has an extremely capable claims team, ranking
highest amongst its peers in an independent poll of London Market
brokers. Our claims staff based in London and Paris has the ability
and experience corresponding to our market position.

Deputy Business Group Leader/Senior Underwriter
After graduating from St. Catharine's College, Cambridge, in 1983, Mike began his insurance career at Jardine Thompson Graham as a graduate trainee. Mike joined Octavian Syndicate Management as a syndicate statistician in 1990.
In 1994 he was appointed senior analyst for the newly created Lloyd's corporate capital provider, LIMIT plc. During this period, Mike gained his in-depth knowledge of the space industry and associated insurance market, as well as earning an MSc in Astrophysics.
Mike commenced underwriting a space insurance account in 1999 for D E Hope & Others, syndicate 1009. He obtained his PhD in 2001. Mike joined Catlin in 2002 as class underwriter for the satellite account.

Underwriter
Rebecca graduated from Loughborough University in 2002 with a Masters degree in Physics. She joined Catlin in 2004 as an underwriting assistant in the Space team. In 2006 she progressed to assistant underwriter.
Rebecca completed her ACII in 2007 and was promoted to class underwriter in 2008.
