Catlin writes a broad range of UK property business on both a facultative and binding authority basis. Business is accepted both through our London operations, where we are a respected lead in our field, and also through our network of regional offices throughout the UK.

The classes of business written include stand-alone commercial property insurance and commercial packages for a broad spectrum of clients ranging from large multinational companies to small businesses. We also have a significant personal lines portfolio for both standard and non-standard risks.

The commercial property book is primarily written on a full value basis where our substantial capacity enables us to accept lines of up to 100% of any one risk. However, we also have the ability to write primary and excess placements where this suits the needs of our clients.

The innovative approach of our underwriters enables us to provide creative solutions to our clients in specialist niche areas.

Senior Underwriter

Colin began his insurance career in 1986 with the UK/international property team of Lloyd's syndicate 322, R D Robertson and Others. He became responsible for the syndicate's UK/Eire account in 1995. Following the syndicate's acquisition by Ace Limited in 1996, he transferred to Ace syndicate 2488 as UK/Eire property underwriter.
In 2001 Colin became responsible for Ace Underwriting Services Limited, the service company for the syndicate. He was appointed commercial insurance manager (UK & Eire) for Ace Europe in 2002. Colin joined Catlin in September 2003.
