Mark Newman
Mark Newman began his insurance career in 1985 with the broker Sedgwick in London. He was based in the international non-marine team where he gained experience in the technical, broking and claims areas of the business. In 1992 Mark joined Johnson and Higgins as a team leader in the international division, handling global non-marine business in Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Continental Europe.
Through the merger with Marsh, Mark joined the global broking division and ran a large team of brokers before transferring to Guy Carpenter in 1999 and then relocating to Tokyo, Japan, in 2000. There, Mark was responsible for establishing the first dedicated facultative operation in Tokyo for GC Fac. He then moved to Singapore to run the Asia Pacific facultative operations, as well as becoming CEO of the South East Asia operations.
Mark established various additional offices throughout the region, including South Korea, Australia and Taiwan. He joined Catlin Singapore Pte Ltd in May 2008 as CEO Asia Pacific with responsibility for our regional operations.
