Raymond Wong
After completing his university education in Canada, Raymond Wong joined AFIA Malaysia in 1979 as a trainee marketing executive. He left AFIA in 1983 to study for a law degree in London. In 1985 he joined Citicorp Insurance Brokers Pte Ltd, initially based in London but transferring to Malaysia in 1987 to set up Citicorp’s insurance broking office.
In 1988 he joined Nanyang Insurance Malaysia (later known as Paramount Assurance) as General Manager and assumed the CEO post in 1991.
Raymond was an elected Director of the Insurance Mediation Bureau of Malaysia from 1991 to 1997. From 1993 to 1997 he was also an elected management committee member of the General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM). He also served as a Board Director of Malaysian National Reinsurance Berhad (MNRB), a publicly listed reinsurance company, from 1995 to 1998.
Before joining Catlin Malaysia in 1999, he was the General Manager/Principal Officer of MMI General Insurance in Labuan. He is currently an elected council member of the Labuan International Insurance Association (LIIA).
