Catlin Seaview Survey conducts scientific pilot

07 May 2012

Rosie Beasley

Since the Catlin Seaview Survey was announced in February the Underwater Earth team has been working full steam ahead to get everything ready for the official start of the project in September.

This week, a scientific pilot is under way to continue testing of equipment and ensure that the team is ready to collect and process the scientific data they need in order to begin the true survey.

Part of the equipment being tested is the specially built camera, the SVII, which is able to take 360-degree, geo-located panoramic images every four to six seconds while travelling at a speed of approximately 4km/hr.

You can follow progress of the Catlin Seaview Survey on the offical facebook page.
