The business change and IT team's customers are all around them. Every other business department, not to mention external parties such as brokers and clients, depend on their knowledge of the technological world to support Catlin's internal infrastructure and develop new, innovative ways of doing business. As well as being a support function, the department undertakes strategic analysis and advancement of Catlin’s systems, and creates powerful new applications designed to give Catlin a competitive advantage across the world.
Working in business change and IT offers a rich and varied experience. The roles and skills within the department range from high level strategic analysis and business knowledge to the technical implementation of IT solutions.

The IT & business change graduate programme
Joining the business change and IT team, you will:
- rotate throughout the department to learn how a global organisation supports and enhances the IT functionality required by 1700 employees
- identify, track and resolve IT related business issues
- work closely with other business functions to understand and agree what they need and be part of the team which devises the solution
- test new solutions and manage any defects
- liaise and negotiate with suppliers of software, hardware and services
- help to maintain and develop systems across various technologies
- over time, as you work with the business, gain an excellent understanding of key business areas – including underwriting, claims, operations, and finance
- learn and join the end-to-end process required to deliver a big impact, business changing project, such as developing our financial, claims and underwriting systems, data warehouse and management information enhancement, and the build of a completely new business application.
Qualities we are looking for
The people who excel in business change and IT are dynamic and customer-focused, and have excellent communication skills. You’ll be collaborating with Catlin people at all levels, across many different functions, so it’s important you can adapt your style to suit them all. The ability to build strong, trusting relationships will be vital to your success.
You’ll need to be bright, innovative and well-equipped to solve all kinds of problems quickly and efficiently. Catlin is looking for committed, hard-working people who are enthusiastic and not afraid to take ownership of a task or project. You will also need to have good attention to detail despite working in a delivery orientated environment and must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Finally, you’ll need a healthy interest in technology and how it can be applied in a business environment such as ours and be happy to apply your knowledge and interest to practically support commercial outcomes.
Academic requirements
Candidates should have or expect to achieve a 2:1 or above in their chosen field and have achieved a minimum of 280 UCAS points (or international equivalent). Should you wish to study a full or part ACII qualification then you will be given full support.
