The claims graduate programme
Working alongside over 100 market-leading professionals and dealing with claims covering more than 30 classes of business, you’ll benefit from unrivalled experience, early exposure and plenty of support, while working toward your Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications.
Joining as a claims assistant you’ll:
- assess and evaluate claims, making use of information and expert advice available to determine cover
- learn how to develop strategies for managing and assessing claims
- gain experience of the different claims business groups and work alongside experienced claims colleagues
- work alongside our underwriters, actuaries and catastrophe aggregate managers
- develop an understanding of the wider business by spending time in key departments including underwriting and actuarial and, where possible, a secondment to an international office.
Qualities we are looking for
Working within the claims function of a global insurance company like Catlin is a demanding and challenging role. We pride ourselves on managing and settling claims effectively, efficiently and expertly. This focus on client service enables us to establish and maintain quality relationships with our clients and brokers.
Our team are highly trained professionals with excellent client-facing skills and the technical expertise to manage claims that can be worth millions of pounds. Accordingly, you’ll find our finance team play an important part in what you do, and you’ll need to build strong relationships with them, while taking responsibility for your decisions and seeking excellence in everything you do.
We’re looking for ingenious problem-solvers and analytical thinkers who can work under pressure and to tight deadlines, whilst remaining calm and adjusting comfortably to changing conditions and priorities. Absolute accuracy, attention to detail, numeracy, logic and common-sense are required.
You’ll be working in a team, both within claims and with our underwriters. You must be a good team player, a confident communicator and articulate presenter. With first-class people skills, you should be highly-driven, personable and hungry for knowledge.
We will help you build knowledge and confidence through ongoing professional training whilst supporting you to work towards achieving the Chartered Institute of Insurance qualifications.
Academic requirements
Candidates should have or expect to achieve a 2:1 or above in their chosen degree subject.
