Our culture

Catlin has retained a small company feel. Despite our size and global reach, we’re not like a typical ‘big company’. We have a friendly, supportive culture where everyone is treated as an individual. So when you join us, you won’t be pigeonholed. You won’t feel like a small cog in a big, corporate machine.

That said, we’re currently the largest Lloyd’s syndicate by premium capacity and we also have an extensive presence in the corporate market. Plus, our expertise means that we work with some of the largest, best known companies in the world.

Work-life balance

Looking after our people is as important to us as caring for our clients. We do expect our people to work hard, but we don’t believe it should be at the expense of their life outside of the office. We believe that relaxed, self-motivated employees will ultimately bring more energy to shaping our business.

And life outside the office can include spending time with people from the office. We’ve a wide range of sports clubs and teams, including netball, rugby, football and darts, playing socially and in competitive City leagues. We also have a subsidised corporate gym membership scheme. 

There's an active social scene at Catlin, and we regularly organise events for our people to get together. Whether it’s a charity fundraising quiz or a Las Vegas extravaganza, we really think it’s important for our people to get together and have fun.
